What are some of the best sites/companies that have Web Hosting and Domain Name services?

Sep 27 2009

I’m looking for the best web host/domain service out there. I need it to have Php/Mysql support (Apache too?). Cost is not the most important factor, the service is a priority, one that has a no bull policy.

Dear web devs and internet savvy people of Yahoo Answer please help me find a good one

  1. Hi TheFox,

If you want a truly reliable web host with quality service, I’d strongly recommend Host Gator. It does offer a domain registration service coupled with its web hosting.

But generally, a domain name registered with a web host costs a few bucks more per year. That’s one thing you must know.

If you register your domain name with a domain registrar, you can get cheaper. It’s just that you need to change your dns server manually (it’s not difficult though).

However, if quality is your main concern and you want to save yourself the hassle of manually changing dns server, and you don’t mind paying a few bucks more for the domain name when you sign up with the web hosting, then I don’t think you’ll have a problem with Host Gator.

Here’s a complete review of Host Gator. It’s very information heavy, that’s why I can’t copy everything over here. Go have a good read (will probably take you about 10 mins but it’s worth it if you can get one that provides you with the best reliability and earns you the most profits):

Oh, Php/Mysql and Apache are available in it too. So you don’t have to worry about that.

    Hope that helps. Cheers ;)

  2. http://futurequest.net/ runs on Apache. All full hosting packages have PHP and multiple databases, among other things. There’s no bull there. They’ll bend over backward to help you out. It’s worth the price.

  3. I use hostgator, and have had no problems with them at all.

  4. Let me tell you a little about my experience with web hosting companies over the years. At times you will come across deals that are almost too good to be true – cheap web hosting with amazing features! There are hosts that while offering cheap prices do back that up with excellent performance and service, but there are things to be noted:
There are a lot of potential questions you must ask yourself, whilst bearing in mind about their reputation, and ultimately – the price. check http://www.topwebhostingslist.com to see what web host is getting the best reputation as well as the bad, which helps to decide who to stay away from.Your experience might be different but I have many complaints from PowWeb and Dot5Hosting. Those companies just took the money and provided me with bad customer support and my websites would always be down. Today I use inmotionhosting for my web hosting and I’m very satisfied. As long as you do a little research before buying your web hosting you will be fine
    good luck!

  5. Do not buy domain and web hosting from same company, it will be pain to move out later if you wish to do so. You can check review of top ten web hosting service providers at website like http://sarkiswebdesign.com/webhosting.htm ,etc .

  6. For service, InMotion.com seems to be tops, but there are other just as good.

  11. There are many different types of web hosting companies available in the market today. Choosing a web hosting provider depends on what type of website you want to have: hobby, blog, or ecommerce site. As a result, there are different flavors of hosting providers. Some of the most common web site hosting types is: shared, free, and dedicated hosting. Free web hosting services for example, place ads on the user’s web pages and can be cumbersome and annoying for visitors. The other web hosting plans offer great support, options, and bandwidth but charge a monthly fee Shared hosting is the most popular web hosting plan, basic. Shared web site hosting permits more than one site to be hosted on the same server. Here, the web hosts provide the system administration and the server maintenance. Benefits of a shared hosting site are programming features such as ASP, PHP, MySQL, large bandwidth, and multiple e-mail address capability. Compared to free web hosting, shared web hosting allows a user to have their own domain name. Shared hosting is a way for a hosting company to offer affordable web hosting to their clients while having more users on one server and thus less overhead costs. Dedicated hosting is a good option for someone who wants more storage and bandwidth and control over the server. The advantages of having dedicated hosting are: unlimited databases and email addresses as well as unlimited bandwidth. Generally, a dedicated server plan offers the user with a monthly bandwidth of 500 GB to 1 TB. Also important to know that there are two types of dedicated web hosting plans: managed and unmanaged. Managed hosting is hosting that is still controlled by the hosting company. In unmanaged dedicated web hosting, the user is the server administrator, permitting the user the greatest amount of control and flexibility. Unfortunately, unmanaged hosting is complicated and takes more time than a managed hosting solution.
