The pay-off per click varies widely depending on what each advertiser decides to offer, based on the profitability of their products and their expected conversion rate (percentage of clicks that deliver a sale). Google is not saying what the average pay-off is, but our own experience after one month of running the program shows an average pay-off of $0.63 per click. We have seen clicks paying as little as $0.02 and as much as $3.00.
So, just for the sake of giving an example, lets say that your site receives 1,000 page views per day. If the 1.2% click-through rate and $0.63 pay-off per click that we have observed on our site hold true for your site as well, in a 30-day month you can expect to make:
1,000 x 30 x 1.2% x $0.63 = $226.80
Not enough to get rich, but a nice extra income nevertheless, that you can use to pay for your domain name and hosting costs, and then some.

How much you will earn depends on three factors.
Firstly the Click Through Ratio (CTR) which is the ratio of visitors that click on the Adsense ads to the total number of visitors. This can vary depending on your site from under 1% to 25%.
Secondly the total number of visitors to your site. Obviously if the CTR remains the same then increasing your visitors by 100% will increase your earning by 100%.
The third facor is how much Google AdWords users are paying for the ads that will appear on your site. This can vary from cents to $20 and will depend on what sector your site is in.
So how much can you earn from one site? It can be less than 1$/month or anything up to 1million$/month like plentyoffish.com.
Happy New Year to you too Aah-Bisto !!
As noted, your earnigns from AdSense depend on the "value" of your site’s visitors, which is usually based on the content of your site.
Clickthrough rate (the percentage of visitors who click on an ad) varies considerably from one site to another. I’ve run some campaigns on MySpace sites where the ClickThrough Ratio (CTR) was less than 0.03% (meaning fewer than 3 clicks per 10,000 visitors). On some other sites that have reasonable traffic, I see clickthrough rates as high as 5%.
The per-click rate can run from a fraction of a penny (if the advertiser pays a penny, you only get part of it) to several dollars.
Of course, a key factor is the amount of "valid traffic" at your web site.
In general, what you have available to sell are "adviews," not clicks — so most web publishers (web site operators) evaluate the performance of advertising by computing the average earnings per adview (commonly measured as "cost per thousand" [CPM]). Some sites have truly awful eCPMs, below $0.10 (meaning the site earns less than a dime from 1,000 adviews); some sites earn eCPMs well above $10.
