    Affiliate marketing is a great opportunity whether you want to make some extra money or as an career opportunity. There is a lot of info online about Affiliate Marketing and one that I found pretty good is a step by step free course called Show me how to make money in my sleep.     The best thing to do is NOT spend any money getting started. Visit internet marketing forums, join, ask questions, and read other members postings.

    This way you can learn the ropes, and decide if this would be something you’d be interested in.

    There are a lot of programs out there offering help to start internet marketing, so make sure you do your research before you dive right in.

    The best way to get your feet wet with internet marketing is to try article marketing. It is free to start. All you have to do is write articles about something that people are concerned with (i.e. dog obedience, hair loss, going green, etc.) and use that to promote products that address those concerns. You can easily submit articles to free sites like squidoo.com or ezinearticles.com.

    Simple and best way to start promoting your affiliate marketing business is by using article marketing.

    Write a lot of articles with a link back to your blog or website and promote products in the blog.

    Hi, i would say that affiliate marketing is not that effective these days as before and requires more spending and time for it to work out good. I suggest you another internet promotion of submitting your business to good directories online. This will give a good exposure and good quality customers . I have tried this business listing stuff with http://www.directory.ac and found very useful. You may also try it someday.

    What you need to do is to start building organic website traffic. This will help increase your search engine ranking and also generate free traffic to your website from links and content. To do that you need to submit your website to search engines, link directories, article directories, social bookmarking websites, and all other places where you can get a free link to your website. All this will help building your "profile" on the internet and improve your page-rank. If you don’t have time doing all this you can use a service like http://www.buzzmint.com they will do it for you, they have more than 66070 places where you can promote your website for free.

    Define a niche market, and target your affiliate products to that market. DON’T pick a product just because you think it looks cool.

    There are many avenues to pursue. You may consider getting some great leads by writing articles, swapping advertising, swapping articles, using message boards, chat rooms, banner ads, or classifieds. Think about online communities like a virtual cafe other gathering places for people to get together with similar interests. Lastly there is PPC(pay per click). This is Google’s PPC program called “AdWords”. It’s a good program, the instructions are very detailed and it’s easy to get started once you sign-up. Before you start a campaign ad you should do some analysis. Try to pick a product preferably one that people cannot readily obtain at the mall or shopping center and it has low competition and high probability. Try think about how the customer would use the product or search for the product.

    Affiliate marketing is a learning curve and there are lots of free resources that you can use for analysis.

    First off you need to decide what you want to sell.

    Then you need to make a business plan. This gives you a map on what you want to do and how you plan to get there. This helps to keep you on track and keeps you from straying from the path.

    You need to consider getting a business license from your local city government. Even though you you can run a business (physical or online) as a sole proprietor you still need to have a business license. In some states you are not required to have the license until you make a certain amount, on average that is around $3,000 to $4,000. Your business will be run under a DBA which means Doing Business As so you need to think of a business name. This business can be run under your SSN for tax purposes but you can Get an EIN number from the IRS if you so choose, usually this is done if you incorporate but I think you can still do it under a sole proprietorship you’ll have to find out.

    You will want to set up a bank account under your name with the DBA attached to it. Any payments made will be made out to the DBA and deposited into the bank account and then you can make owner draws from there. This just helps to make everything legit.

    Then consider your website. Are you going to create it? Are you going to pay to have it done for you? If you do it yourself there are sites you can go to to create a website for free using their templates, just type free websites into your search engine and a whole slew of sites will come up. Building the site will be free but you will still have to pay for a domain name and monthly hosting. If you pay to have a site built it can possibly be as cheap as $700.00 on up into the thousands.

    Since it sounds like you are starting out I suggest using a blog, it’s free and you don’t have to pay for a domain name or hosting. You can make a blog look like a website a blog is essentially a website you just have to set it up to look like what you want. If you don’t know how to use a blog just go to a social media videos there is one that everyone knows and type in how to use a blog and whatever blog setup you are using and you should get something. Sorry I can’t say anything specific as far as which blogs you can use but it’s frowned upon in yahoo answers to specify any website except a website owned by yahoo so you will have to find one for yourself. Anyways when using a blog just make sure you have content in the body of the blog.

    You want to use keywords in the content so that the search engines know what your site is about. To do this the easy way just italic or bold your keywords. The other way gets into knowing how to use html and that can get complicated unless you know how to do it. You can find out which keywords are most used by using a keyword search on a keyword site again I can’t tell you the one to go to you just have to find it on your own, sorry. Try to keep the keywords specific, if it’s about golf equipment then this is the keyword you want to use or similar phrases. You also want to put a analytics code into your site so that you can track your traffic to see how many hits you get and your bounce rate.

    If you market a vendors product you just have to paste the link that is given to you by the vendor that is ID specific to your site and paste it in your site, either in a word link or a picture link or if they provide widgets you can use on your site just put the widget with the links on your site through the add html widgets in the blog which is usually found in the design section. You will want to at least submit to the search engines, there are a lot of them but for now just submit to the 3 well known search engines.

    Then it’s up to you to market the site by establishing inbound links to your site. This will take a while, you just need to spend time each day link building so don’t give up and stay away from link farms they are bad news. I also suggest you build multiple sites to increase your chances of creating income, one site will not do it unless you happen to be very very lucky which is usually not the case for most of us. I know this seems like a lot of hoops to jump through but it’s work like anything else and you have to work hard at it to make it gel for you. 2 hours a day will be good without wearing you out and it doesn’t have to be all at once. Do an hour in the morning and an hour at night or whatever works for you.
