How can I run a second display from my 2005 PPC Mac Mini? USB adapter worked with MacBook Air …?

Aug 19 2009

I used a Diamond BVU160 adapter with my Macbook Air to enable a second external display. Worked fine. I cannot get it to work with the used Mac Mini (2005, PPC machine) I am now using. I sure miss my second monitor. Any ideas?

  1. I just purchased a BVU160, and according to the side of the box:

"System Requirements: Desktop or laptop PC with 1.2 GHz or higher processor clock speed, with an Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent power CPU OR Macintosh supporting Intel-Mac."

In other words, the BVU160 drivers will not work on PowerPC Macs, only Intel-based ones like your MacBook Air. The "power" in the System Requirements above refers to Windows PCs (as in a similarly-powered AMD machine would work).

Where did you get your Mac drivers from anyways? The included CD and the link on the Diamond site are Windows-only drivers.
